We all have that dream car or dream manufacture that we wish we could afford. For me it was always about Mercedes Benz, their sleek design, with all the little features that never seem to cease with every new line up. I was always particularly of the SUVs, being able to explore the outdoors without having to sacrifice the creature comforts of civilization. But, the thing that always got me was the price point. Now don’t get me wrong, it is clear to see why they hold such a high price point. They are a brand name when it comes to luxury. But, during a visit to a friend in a nonboring city, I found myself with some time to kill and walked over to a nearby Mercedes Dealership to indulge my fantasy for a moment.
Instantly I was approached by a sales associate who was eager to help me with anything I might need. I explained that I always loved Mercedes SUVS and how one day I want to get one, but with the prices being just a little out of reach for my budget. That’s when he asked if I have ever considered buying a Pre Owned Mercedes. I admit that I hadn’t and that I only ever looked at whatever was new at the time. He explained that just because you don’t buy new means that it is not just as good. After a few questions about budgets and what I wanted to do with the vehicle, he showed me a nice 2014 model that may be within my price range and after a somewhat brief time in the financing office, I qualified for that model with an affordable monthly payment. And after I sold my current car, I found myself driving away in a Mercedes only a week later.
What I learned by this experience with Mercedes, is that asking a few questions or inquiring about something may be the first step to making it happen. Now, I must admit that I hadn’t thought about how I would maintain such a vehicle. Usually luxury cars can be quite costly down the road or I may have an issue with it after a month. But, with the dealership warranty I received with the SUV and with a maintenance plan that I opted in to getting, made sure I would be able to care for it in the years to come. The one thing I found out through this whole experience was how well that they hold their inherit value. Comparing the prices of other models to their current ones, showed a very slow decline in price over the years. Almost guaranteeing me a good trade in or resale value, if I ever want to buy or upgrade to a newer vehicle.
All and all, I was thrilled to know that there was a way to get me into my dream car, without having it just remain a dream. If you are like me and love Mercedes, you should see if pre-owned can suit your needs as it did mine.
