The Importance of 4×4 Servicing

The Importance of 4×4 Servicing

4×4 vehicles are very commonly seen on the roads of Dubai. These vehicles are used primarily for off-roading purposes. Most common vehicles that you see on the road nowadays either have a front-wheel drive or a rear-wheel drive. Most sedans are fitted with a front-wheel driving system, whereas supercars have a rear-wheel driving system. The difference with 4×4 vehicles is that you can switch between a front-wheel drive, a rear-wheel drive, or power up all four wheels. There’s a torque distribution assembly located underneath, in the suspension, that is used for distributing the torque between the wheels.

This means that 4×4 vehicles can be driven on rocky or uneven surfaces. Which is one of the main reasons why so many companies refer to them as “off-road” vehicles. However, while these cars are designed to be tough, and can be driven on almost any surface, there are a few things that you should know about maintenance. First of all, you should know that 4×4 vehicles require a bit more maintenance when compared to ordinary vehicles. Timely 4×4 servicing is necessary, if you want to keep the car in optimal condition, otherwise the torque distributor of the 4×4 assembly is likely to stop working properly.

You will need to take the car in for detailed service, from time-to-time, so that you can rely on the vehicle later on when you go for off roading. Here are a few tips on getting your vehicle serviced.

Go to a Workshop that Specialises in 4×4 Services

Repairing, or servicing, a 4×4 vehicle is a completely different ballgame when compared with standard vehicles. Rather than take your car to an ordinary workshop, you should find a local workshop that specialises only in 4×4 vehicles. Depending upon the make and model of your car, the servicing will vary. You should always take your car to a workshop that works primarily with 4×4 vehicles so that you can get a better, tailored service.

Timely Services

Ideally, you should get your vehicle serviced after every 5,000 kilometres. When you take the car in for a servicing, they will check fluid levels, and clean the engine bay as well as the internal components of the vehicle. Proper oiling and cleaning is necessary to ensure that your car remains in the best possible condition. Timely servicing can also help identify potential problems with the vehicle, and fix unnecessary problems in the car. In case there’s a developing problem in the car that hasn’t come to light, the mechanics will be able to identify and fix them in the early stages, preventing costly repairs.

Servicing doesn’t take very long either. In most cases, you will be free within a couple of hours or so. Your car will look as good as new after the servicing is complete. The mechanics will also deliver a comprehensive report, in order to ensure that all systems in the car are working normally.
